The Highlights:
The Financial Aid Administrator, as part of the OFA Operations team, is responsible for managing application processing, verification procedures, and reconciliation of state, federal and/or external loan and grant programs totaling more than $300M for up to 18,000 students per year. The administrator reports to the Associate Director of Operations and works independently to develop and maintain efficient procedures for processing and reconciling aid. This position will also be responsible for incorporating new regulations into the application and reconciliation process as needed; and for collaborating with the OFA Student Services team to ensure efficient delivery of FA funds to students.

What You'll Do:


  • Responsible for effectively managing application processing, completing federal verification and student eligibility review. Develop and incorporate new regulations into the processes as needed.
  • Work with closely with internal and external agencies and departments (including the US Department of Education; the Illinois Student Assistance Commission; Private lenders; and the DePaul Student Accounts, Controllers and Treasury Offices) to coordinate fiscal reporting and reconciliation.
  • Participation in the administration of federal, state, institutional and private aid with aggregate dollars of programs involved exceed $410 million annually.
  • Coordinate effective delivery of FA funds to students through OFA Counselor liaisons.
  • Reconciliation of at least one major, or several minor state, federal and/or external loan and grant program (crossing up to three fiscal years at a time) in compliance with all regulations governing those programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What You'll Need:


  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Familiarity with student aid programs and student processes required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with federal or state financial aid programs and administration preferred.
  • Capacity to embrace change and willingness to be flexible in work hours.
  • Capacity to work independently, effectively, and under pressure during peak processing.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Capacity of spend periods of time either sitting or standing.
  • Capacity to spend extensive time viewing monitors.
  • Occasional extended hours and/or weekend work required, depending on volume and demand.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $42,679.00 to $50,000.00.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
