Who You Are
The primary job function is to develop next-generation laser products in a fast-growing, vertically integrated company.The Semiconductor Process Engineer is responsible for supporting nLIGHT's advanced semiconductor laser research and development programs and transferring processes to full production under New Product Introduction (NPI). The successful candidate will be highly motivated with an excellent track record of process engineering experience in electronics or photonics products.

Functions
  • Develop and lead the Wafer Fab Processes for all aspects of fabricating innovative semiconductor lasers in III-V semiconductor materials
  • Drive innovative solutions for novel process designs to solve fabrication challenges
  • Design and make CAD drawings of photo masks
  • Work closely with nLIGHT's Epitaxy, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Equipment Engineering and NPI Groups
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with 4 plus years of experience or Bachelor's with 6 plus years of experience in: chemical, material, photonics, electronics, or a related physical sciences field.
  • Experience in process engineering of electronics or photonics devices.
  • Experience working within a semiconductor manufacturing cleanroom or laboratory environment.
  • Hands on experience with fabrication of electronics or photonics devices: wafer process experience for GaAs/InP photonic devices, especially skills with photo lithography and nano lithography, Wet- /Dry-etching, oxide film deposition, sputter coating, and metal evaporation process/equipment.
  • Experience with metrology tools such as SEM, AFM, Photoluminescence, XRD etc.
  • Experience with computer-controlled semiconductor processing equipment or vacuum systems.
  • Strong knowledge of properties of III-V semiconductors especially GaAs/InP preferred.
  • Understanding of and familiarity with manufacturing process control tools and methods such as SPC, DFM, FMEA, etc. Design-of-experiment (DOE) methodology and statistics-based data analysis in support of R&D programs.
  • Ability to summarize and present results and conclusions clearly and effectively.

Starting pay depends on qualifications:
    • Advanced Technology Process Engineer II: $80,000 - $95,000 annually
    • Sr Advanced Technology Process Engineer: $95,000 - $120,000 annually
