Job Description

  • Assist the Associate Dean of Student Services and Alumni Relations in cultivating and maintaining a vibrant alumni base, through hosting alumni events at state and national meetings, creating alumni opportunities to engage with the current student body, etc.
  • Works closely with the Associate Dean of Student Services and Alumni Relations, on all aspects of student-related issues, fostering a sense of community and supporting College of Optometry's goal of graduating practice-ready optometrists.
  • Facilitate the admissions process for the College of Optometry with regards to recruitment, interviewing, and supporting applicants.
  • Engaging with prospective students
  • Navigate student enrollment
  • Manage student background checks
  • Assist in reviewing MOUs from undergraduate partnerships
  • Manage student services support staff
  • Manage optometry student workers such as tutors, Tas, and ambassadors. This includes hiring process, onboarding,
    Facilitate the student ambassador program
  • Serve as the principal liaison between the administration/faculty and the student body, providing leadership, collaboration, and direction to ensure a positive educational experience.
  • Serve as coordinator to ensure compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Assist students and work with other departments to uniformly implement policies relating to academics, conduct, transfers, absences, withdrawal, probation, dismissal, reinstatement, and other matters.
  • Oversee academic accommodations policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a key contact with student government and student organizations to cultivate and maintain relationships.
  • Serve in an advisory role on various faculty committees (e.g., Admissions Committee, Student Committee, Curriculum Committee).
  • Provide direct support with student-focused events, such as Commencement, the White Coat Ceremony, New Student Mixer.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that support mental health, managing stress and study strategies.

MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Previous management experience
  • Experience working with students and/or academic records
  • Four to five years of experience in higher education.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $51,875 - $73,008 Annual
Grade: GGS-010
