Position: Technical Writer Location: Hanscom AFB, MA

Summary: DAWSON is seeking a Technical Writer, contingent on contract award, to support the Air Force Information Network (AFIN). This role involves managing the lifecycle of technical publications critical for the Department of the Air Force's communications infrastructure. The candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of DoD technical documentation and experience in either government or commercial sectors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Publication Lifecycle Management:




  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of technical documentation per AFLCMC/The Government Program Office Project Managers guidelines, including Technical Orders (TOs) and Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) as detailed in TOs 00-5-1, 00-5-3, 00-5-15, and 00-5-18.




Documentation Development:




  • Produce up to 100 fifty-page TOs and 400 eight-page TCTOs annually, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.



  • Engage in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for the development, review, and refinement of TOs.




Maintenance and Compliance:




  • Update existing TOs with active TCTOs and other changes as directed by the Government Sustainment Program Manager.



  • Manage Technical Data Coordination (TDC) requirements, dedicating 25% effort to these tasks.




Technical Analysis and Reporting:




  • Analyze and document TCTOs for modifications to program baselines.



  • Maintain a TCTO Compliance Matrix to track organizational units' compliance.



  • Monitor and report on vulnerabilities within AF systems/networks, producing regular summaries.




Documentation Quality Control:




  • Organize and clarify technical content for manuals, briefs, and other documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards.




Team Collaboration:




  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to incorporate new technologies and tools under the Enterprise Information Technology as a Service (EITaaS) initiative.




Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, or a related field.




Experience:




  • A minimum of 2 years of experience, with a preference for DoD program involvement.




Technical Skills:




  • Proficiency in technical writing and editing, with familiarity with PTC Arbortext.



  • Knowledge of the TO development process.




Certifications:




  • ITIL Foundation v3 or higher.



  • Certified Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II.



  • At least one of the following: Network+, A+, Server+, Cloud+, Linux+ (preferably Network+, Server+, or Cloud+), PCNSA, CCNA (Security or Routing & Switching), JNCIA-Junos, VMware VCP-DCV, RHCSA, MCSA or equivalent, CYSA+ or CASP+.




Security Clearance:




  • A valid DoD Secret clearance is mandatory. NATO Secret and/or DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearances, adjudicated for SCI eligibility, may be required depending on location.
