Job Purpose

Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and building all press idle tables, handling arms and Hanging Robot Handling equipment within the Stamping Department for risk mitigation, die move and new model activity. Associate is also responsible for setting up Press lines, maintaining Press Setups, troubleshooting and root cause investigation on all pieces of equipment within the Stamping Department.

Key Accountabilities

  • Automation Downtime Characteristic Improvement on Press Lines. Validate daily production downtime and analyze data. Initate PDCA activity to eliminate chronic downtime issues. Initate root cause analyse and counter-measures.
  • Setup Automation Handling for Mass Production Die Moves and New Model. This includes handling creation, adjustment, press/transfer data collections and confirmation. Support production in maturation and upkeep during new model and mass production.
  • Manage monthly production maintence of automation equipment. Train/Manage PSE associates to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Operator Training - Press, Automation. Develop capability of self, colleagues, and team through mentoring and sharing of experience.
  • Document Control - Press Setups, Die Setups, Blank Loading Diagram. Create procedures for creating and maintaining setup documents.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant work experience required
  • 2-8 years experience based on education, (preferred 4 years ofStamping experience)
  • Lead automation development
  • Knowledge of department systems (ISO Quest)
  • Crisis management (PPA development)
  • Understand available resources both internal to the department as well as external
  • Knowledge of process, equipment, business, and human constraints (Today and Future)
  • Knowledge of how to order automation parts (Maximo)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to respond immediately to production floor needs and requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the SEQCDM guidelines/requirements within area of responsibility
  • Able to learn to operate overhead crane and forklift.

Working Conditions

  • Will require standing for long durations of time
  • Able to work in a fast pace production area
  • Able to work in an environment with varying temperatures
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • 0-10% travel requirement for training and offsite support as needed
  • Daily, weekly, weekend and holiday overtime as required (will vary)
  • Able to work varying/rotating shifts for extended periods of time as requested
  • Ability to perform production line work and work online as needed
