Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CTE (Career and Technical Education) Teacher specializing in Welding to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding techniques and safety, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and prepare students for careers in the welding industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive welding curriculum that meets state standards and industry requirements.

  • Teach students various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.

  • Instruct students on the proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.

  • Emphasize safety procedures and ensure a safe learning environment.

  • Assess student performance through tests, projects, and practical assessments.

  • Provide individualized instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Collaborate with other CTE teachers and industry partners to enhance the welding program.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in welding technology.

  • Prepare students for certification exams and entry-level employment in the welding field.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in CTE or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in welding, with proficiency in various welding techniques.

  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and engage students.

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

  • Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for instructing high school students (grades 9-12) in welding techniques and safety practices in alignment with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) requirements. This role involves designing curriculum, delivering hands-on training, and fostering an engaging, safe learning environment that encourages skill development, problem-solving, and career exploration in welding.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate welding curriculum that meets the FLDOE requirements and prepare students for industry certification

  • Provide instruction in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, stick welding, and other relevant methods Design, implement, and evaluate welding curriculum that meets the FLDOE requirements and prepares students for industry certification

  • Integrate technical skills with theoretical concepts, safety protocols, and workplace readiness skills.

  • Instruct students in the proper handling and maintenance of welding equipment and tools.

  • Ensure that all classroom and shop activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Promote a culture of safety by teaching and enforcing protective measures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Assess student's welding skills and knowledge through practical exams, projects, and written tests.

  • Support students in attaining industry-recognized welding certifications.

  • Track and document student progress in alignment with school and state reporting requirements.

  • Encourage students to explore welding and manufacturing careers, supporting them in career readiness and pathway planning.

  • Offer guidance on apprenticeships, trade schools, and further training opportunities in the field.

  • Participate in school events and initiatives to promote the welding program and student achievements.

  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High diploma or the equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable, practical experience in welding; prior teaching experience preferred but not required.

  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain certification in Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • Strong welding skills, familiarity with FLDOE curriculum standards, and with proficiency in various welding techniques

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal instructional abilities.

  • Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.

  • Ability to motivate and engage students.

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.

  • The position includes a mix of classroom teaching and hands-on welding instruction in a workshop/lab environment.

  • Compliance with all safety guidelines is mandatory

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty (20) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
