Small Group Trainer - Reformer Instructor Trotter

Position Summary:

Leads Pilates Reformer Classes.

Essential Functions:


  1. Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values into all activities.
  2. Plans and develops fitness programs to implement during small group training classes.
  3. Observes and discusses individual progress with participants. Develops rapport with members and responds to questions related to fitness.
  4. Offers alternatives during class to accommodate different fitness levels.
  5. Monitors participants to ensure safe workout; responds to and reports, accidents and incidents.
  6. Prepares room and equipment prior to class and properly secures room/area and equipment following the class; reports equipment and/or facility problems to supervisor promptly
  7. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Reports all incidents and complete accident reports as necessary.
  8. Responds to member questions and/or concerns.
  9. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  11. Follows all YMCA policies and safety and emergency procedures and processes.
  12. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  13. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.

Qualifications:


  1. Minimum age of18.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. National Personal Training certification (see list below) or Primary Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM).
  4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  5. Previous experience working as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor or Small Group Training Instructor is preferred.
  6. Previous experience with diverse populations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to resolve routine problems.

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to be sensitive and alter to the needs, feelings, and safety of others.
