Elwyn is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant to be responsible for managing and accounting for the organization's fixed assets and leases. This position involves maintaining accurate records of fixed asset transactions, ensuring proper capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of assets, tracking and payments of leases, accounting for leases under ASC 842 and supporting financial reporting requirements. The Fixed Asset Accountant will work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely asset tracking and reporting. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records related to fixed assets and leases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
  • Track construction-in-progress and ensure fixed assets are reclassified in a timely manner and depreciated when the asset is placed into service.
  • Maintain and update schedule of property and equipment leases
  • Calculate and maintain ASC 842 calculations for all applicable leases
  • Ensure all leases are paid on time by collaborating with accounts payable
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger.
  • Review and verify fixed asset transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Partner with Assistant Controller to determine proper capitalization and depreciation methods for various asset classes.
  • Calculate and record depreciation expense, ensuring proper allocation in the financial statements.
  • Partner with the Assistant Controller to review useful asset lives and depreciation rates, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconciliations of fixed assets, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports on fixed asset balances, additions, retirements, and depreciation for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation for audit requests.
  • Preparation of lease disclosures for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the fixed asset accounting function.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and operations, to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of fixed asset management.
  • Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
  • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Two (2) years of experience in fixed asset accounting or general accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, particularly related to fixed assets
  • Experience working in an ERP solution, Oracle Cloud is a plus
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must possess excellent collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
