Job Description For candidates pursuing a career in Geophysics. Terracon is growing and hiring a near-surface field-staff Geophysicist in our Winter Park, Florida office! Our Winter Park office utilizes a comprehensive range of near-surface geophysical technologies in support of geotechnical, environmental, engineering, and materials testing investigations, including utility location. This position is for a geoscientist who will be responsible to perform non-invasive geophysical surveys from the ground surface to provide images or models of subsurface. You will assist in defining survey objectives, designing survey approaches, performing quality control on data, analyzing the geophysical data, and provide interpretation of results. These results are incorporated into the planning, design, renovation, and construction of vital infrastructure such as roads, tunnels, airports, landfills, water supplies, and other facilities; the assessment of environmental conditions; and the evaluation of earth resources. Geophysics is a growing field that supports all four of Terracon's service lines. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Follow Terracon safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any unsafe activities or concerns to management. Be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards on all projects. Proficient Geophysicist responsible for conducting geophysical surveys and making contributions for design and safety of various engineering projects. Geophysical Techniques include Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Time Domain Electromagnetics (TDEM), Frequency Domain Electromagnetics (FDEM), Seismic (MASW and SRT), Electrical Resistivity (Tomography and 4 pin), Magnetics, and others. Will assist Mid-Level and Senior Geophysicist on various projects. Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection for assignments. Capable of working independently with the support of senior level geophysicist to collect data, and/or document site conditions, for subsurface site characterization. Processes, evaluates, and interprets geophysical data and works to assist senior geophysicist on various projects. Will work in collaboration with a team of professionals to see various projects to completion.
