#CA-TS To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office. Patient management decisions are independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team. NPs are expected to act as an expert resource person for SOM_SON care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff. Apply By Date: 5/27/25 at 11:59 pm. Key Responsibilities
Department Overview The role of the APP in the Division of Malignant Hematology/Cellular Therapy and Transplant (MH/CTT) includes outpatient and inpatient care of pre- and post-stem cell transplant patients. Program needs require working on holidays, weekends, and evening coverage. May require coverage of additional services based on division needs. The incumbent is required to comply with FACT standards in management of bone marrow or peripheral stem cell transplant patients. Provides pre- and post-chemotherapy educationand stress support intervention. Utilizes and evaluates teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs of patients and families. Promotes self-care of families via education in support of self-care behavior and counsels families towards optimal physical, social and psychosocial adjustment. Writes, submits, and implements clinical research study proposals. Maintains training and competency to ensure compliance with FACT standards in the management of autologous and allogeneic transplant patients. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, standardized procedures, and scope of nursing/PA practice. Problem solves and demonstrates interest and ability in teaching/education. Ability to learn or efficiently use computer programs as required. Occasional overtime may be required. Program needs require working on holidays, weekend and evening coverage. May require coverage of additional services based on division needs. Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act. Department Specific Job Scope The Division of Malignant Hematology/ Cellular Therapy & Transplantation (MH/CTT) is one of 14 divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine at UC Davis Health. MH/CTT is comprised of nine faculty, 19 APP's, and both administrative, financial and research staff. Our APP unit provides both inpatient and ambulatory clinical services, working with physician providers and Hematology Oncology fellows. POSITION INFORMATION
