The ideal candidate will have a passion for victims of crimes, be forward looking and a change agent whose interest is to continue to advance the Department. Also, the ideal applicant will have a passion for making a positive impact on the community, as well as committed to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will also have a desire and ability to work within the Law Enforcement culture.

The ideal candidate for this position will have: / Key Responsibilities:

The Victim Advocate position is a civilian position within the Police Department and performs or assists with the following tasks:



  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to via phone and/or in-person
  • Explain information related to victim rights, criminal justice systems and community resources
  • Aide victims in safety planning
  • Guide victims through the legal and/or court processes
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement, medical personnel, courts, and community agencies
  • Train/educate staff and the public to raise awareness about victim rights, Victim Assistance Unit and available services

Minimum Requirements:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field. (i.e. Counseling, Psychology, Social Work and Criminal Justice or similar).
  • Experience: 6 months - 1 years' experience. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
