Director, Internal Controls

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead WellSky's audit and internal control functions. The Director, Internal Controls will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the compliance, privacy, and security internal control framework (e.g., SOC and HITRUST). Additionally, this role will manage the compliance, privacy, and security audit function to ensure comprehensive risk assessments and audits are conducted across the organization. The Director will ensure that controls are effective, risk management practices are robust, and operational activities comply with established policies, regulations, and best practices.

A day in the life!

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborating with senior leadership to define the compliance, privacy, and security audit strategy and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Providing leadership oversight for planning and execution of external and internal operational, security, and compliance audits, including monitoring progress, removing barriers, and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with senior management, business unit leaders, and external auditors. Communicating audit objectives, findings, and recommendations effectively to senior level leaders.
  • Ensuring that audits are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and corporate policies and staying informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and updating internal control policies and procedures to ensure they align with best practices and the company's operational needs. Providing guidance and training to the business on the application of internal controls.
  • Performing risk assessments to identify key risks and develop audit strategies to address those risks. Evaluating the design and effectiveness of internal controls and recommending improvements to reduce risks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identifying and effectively communicating opportunities for process improvement and providing advisory services to help business leaders design efficient and effective controls. Providing strategic guidance on risk management, internal controls, and governance to senior leadership.

Do you have what it takes?

Required Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years related work experience
  • 4-5 years people management

Do you stand above the rest?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MAcc) or professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or similar
  • Experience managing SOC and HITRUST audits

Additional job expectations applicable to this position include:

  • Willingness to work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Working in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned
