Summary of Job Duties:Responsible for assisting with academic, career advising and planning; registration; graduation application process; special events; recruitment and retention functions; collecting, analyzing and presenting outcome data for the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences (CHEHS); providing advising-related professional development for CHEHS faculty. The position reports to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of three years of professional experience in education, student services, counseling, or a related professional field. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of this minimum requirement.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Master's degree is preferred. Candidates with three to five years of professional work experience in academic advising, career planning, enrollment, instructional technology, or student records, admissions or financial aid preferred. Banner, Navigate, and Workday experience is preferred.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete diverse recruitment and retention tasks.
  • Provide students with information on programs and course selection, while providing career counseling and academic advising assistance.
  • Assist with registration, graduation applications and requirements.
  • Assist with special events.
  • Collaborate with college leadership in student selection, admission, persistence, and progression to degree.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in the Freshman Advising Center.
  • Collaborate with the Offices of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid.
  • Develop effective working relationships within the college, on the UAFS campus and with external stakeholders.
  • Manage data collection for the various programs within the College and assist with assessment, research, reports, and special projects.
  • Maintain student records.
  • Review academic standing of students for possible intervention, support, and referrals.
  • Help to design and coordinate training for faculty advisors.
  • Manage faculty advising rosters and assign/reassign students to faculty advisors.
  • Promote retention through innovative programming.
  • Conduct online advising with distance learners.
  • Promote and maintain a working knowledge of current career exploration and employment trends by participating in professional workshops and organizations. Participate in professional development for academic advisors.
  • Serve as a standing member of the UAFS Academic Advising Council.
  • Participate in all Program Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Maintains a positive, professional work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and to provide leadership for subordinates.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Help to develop and update online resources and communication, and overall web presence for the CHEHS advising presence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Working Relationships: This position works closely with other advisors throughout the university as well as with the ROAR advising center personnel. Interacts daily with faculty and staff to maintain a collegial and professional work environment.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. This position may require occasional travel to recruiting or advising events at partner community colleges or events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Visual demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. This position is M-F from 8-5.

Salary Information:

$45,000/year
