Overview
Create Better Health (SNAP-Ed) is a federal grant funded program at Utah State University. One of the components is to do Policy, Systems & Environment (PSE). The PSE Coordinator (Extension Program Associate) will perform a combination of program-related and/or administrative functions to support Create Better Health at the State level with PSE and Equity programming and development.

Responsibilities
  • Provides oversight of Create Better Health (SNAP-Ed) Policy, Systems and Environment Work within the state of Utah.
  • Work together with other Create Better Health (CBH) program area state team. coordinators, support to the CBH Director, county faculty, and program ambassadors.
  • Coordinate efforts for the Create Better Health grant and reports as needed.
  • Train & instruct, all team members approved protocols, policies, grant responsibilities, and other services needed.
  • Oversight of the PSE Facilitators regional work & efforts to promote state programming.
  • Plan, conduct and moderate monthly PSE Facilitator meetings.
  • Update regional email threads with terminated and newly hired ambassadors.
  • Present program update presentation (1x monthly) at the program director update meeting.
  • Communicate PSE program changes and updates to program ambassadors at monthly statewide ZOOM meetings.
  • Work with the Farmers Feeding Utah project, assisting in coordination of efforts.
  • Work with the Hunger Solutions Institute (HSI).
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Update current programs, utilizing program graphic designers.
  • Attend monthly county staff meetings and support ambassadors in PSE barriers.
  • Connect new ambassadors to PSE facilitators through initial ZOOM meeting after hiring onboarding concludes.
  • Work as a team to coordinate program/department activities including, conferences and events.
  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day management of PSE efforts across Utah that facilities for the organization to be successful.
  • Work with program evaluation coordinator to support PSE evaluation processes.
  • Stay current in national guidelines regarding up-and-coming SNAP-ED PSE projects.
  • Encourage ambassadors to sustain PSE programs and strive for a progressive approach.
  • With the program directors' approval, update and design new PSE projects.
  • Utilize PSE Facilitators to find solutions to PSE barriers across the state.
  • Encourage ambassadors to complete a minimum of 2 PSE projects each fiscal year, strive for 1 project in each suggested location (food pantry, eligible schools, & eligible stores).
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four years of experience or a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    SNAP-Ed Experience: As part of experience above, a minimum accumulation of 2 years working with SNAP-Ed programming
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with Canva


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Create Better health PSE efforts.
  • Willingness to work on soft funds
  • Demonstration of having a continuous growth and quality improvement mindset
  • Can confidently use a tablet, computer, and smart phone
  • Written communication: Ability to create, compose, edit, and adapt written materials in a clear and effective way to reach the needs of the intended audience.
  • Verbal communication: Both comfortable and willing to communicate with colleagues in an effective way to build a healthy work environment and lead efficient team projects.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Must be highly organized with knowledge and experience in office and team management principles and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
