The Accounting Support Specialist is responsible for administrative and financial duties supporting the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture's Soil Testing and Research Programs. This includes service laboratories located in Fayetteville, AR and Marianna, AR. The position is based out of Fayetteville. This position is responsible for accurately and promptly paying invoices for purchases made, clearing PCard and TCard charges, entering requisitions, and creating internal and external invoices to bill customers for services provided. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, time management and good customer service skills. This position adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, State and University purchasing guidelines as well as state and federal laws, and other agency and institutional policies.

* Workday: Pay invoices, allocate Purchasing Card and Travel Card charges to correct accounts and attach receipts, enter requisitions to purchase items, create internal invoices to bill departments, create external invoices to bill external customers, manage account balances, process travel requests for Center Director including entering spend authorizations (pre-travel) and expense reports (post-travel).
* Reports: Assist in preparing reporting on account balances for monthly financial and annual budget reports. Reconcile accounts, and prepare annual soil testing budget reports.
* Grant Management: Prepare and support the annual call for soil research proposals (internal program). Monitor and manage the research grant funds and receipt of written progress reports from award recipients.
* Customer Service: Confer with suppliers about invoice issues, request new supplier setups as needed, enter internal and external invoices for lab services. Assist and resolve billing issues for internal or external invoices.
* Human Resources: Completes Human Resources work processes such as entering job postings for new positions/new hires and onboarding new employees.
* Working Relationships: Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty along with creating and maintaining a collegial, harmonious working relationship with staff, suppliers, and community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Strong self-management skills and ability to work independently.
* Ability to handle multitasks to meet project timelines.
* Knowledge and/or experience in reconciling accounts, procurement policies, spreadsheets, and ability to initiate problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Be willing to accept supervision.
* Ability to resolve problems with vendor invoices and payments.
* Knowledge and understanding of accounting practices.
* Possess strong organizational and prioritization skills for efficient and effective work.
* Demonstrate ability to adjust to and manage change.
* Exhibit a cooperative and approachable attitude and demeanor. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in general business, finance, or a related field.
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements in related fields of business administration, accounts payable, accounting, or procurement with a demonstrated understanding of accounts payable processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounts payable/receivable experience in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications including Workday and MS Office Software (Excel and Word).

$35,000 - $40,000
