Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Catering Server - Dining Services (Multiple Vacancies) for Dining Services - Catering.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Operates within Rutgers University Dining Services' Catering team.
  • Ensures exemplary guest service through all forms of service including carving stations, bartending, running food during events, etc.
  • Replenishes products and supplies in compliance with event standards.
  • Ensures events are properly equipped and executed by transporting, pulling, setting up and breaking down, and returning equipment to designated storage areas in compliance with event standards and instructions.
  • Provides support to present a clean and safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours Per Week 10-20 based on number of events

  • This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
FLSA Nonexempt
Position Salary $22.00

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.
Certifications/Licenses

  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position.
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in catering and/or fine dining environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively respond to customer inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, stressful environment, and friendly, service-oriented demeanor.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push/pull food and beverage items, and catering equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have access to reliable transport; some travel is required to campus-wide events.

Special Conditions

  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Must be willing to work with a varying/flexible schedule based on catering business fluctuations.
