Category Manager and Indirect Business Partner

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing all strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories in accordance with the prescribed purchasing processes and procedures. Vet new suppliers and manage current supplier base through evaluating and minimizing supplier risk, leading contract negotiations, and serving as the liaison between the supplier and the business. Manage sourcing projects during supplier assessment, negotiation, and award phases. Assist in the Quality Management System (QMS) audits/site supplier visits to ensure the relationship between both companies will meet bioMerieux's requirements.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux's Quality System. Adhere to Regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, Legal, Ethical, and bioMerieux-specific procedures.
  • Source a variety of Services (Employee Benefits, Recruitment, Marketing, Training and International Mobility/Relocation) in accordance with the Global Purchasing Policy and prescribed procedures and processes.
  • In collaboration with Legal, prepare and lead commercial negotiations and contracting. Ensure Data Privacy and Cyber Security requirements are met.
  • Design, lead, and implement cost savings projects based on a structured project/savings roadmap.
  • Implement continuous improvement practices.
  • Manage Global Suppliers (Including Tier 2) within scope: contracts, CSR, performance, risk management and business review.
  • Understand market trends and use reporting tools to monitor and measure supplier performance to ensure the company is receiving fair market value.
  • Build and strengthen supplier relationships through frequent and effective communication on business, quality, and cost.
  • Resolve disputes through effective communication and recommend solutions to identify the root cause and implement corrective action as necessary.
  • Review departmental Standard Operating Procedure and Work Instruction Documents for relevancy and accuracy.
  • Manage Supplier Business Reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills, & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years of Purchasing experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 3 years of Purchasing experience
    • MBA preferred
    • Related fields include: Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Operations.
    • Advanced skills in contracting and negotiation is highly desired
    • Experience supporting professional services highly desired (HR, IT/IS, Marketing, Consulting, etc)
  • Global/Cross-cultural experience preferred
  • SAP or Tableau experience preferred
  • Experience in development and implementation of category-sourcing strategies
  • Understands the importance of compliance to internal controls
  • Experience responding to internal and external audits
