Manager, AI Engineering - International

The Manager, International AI Engineering leads a team of multi-lingual technical experts in successfully executing technology projects and solutions that align with the strategy and have broad business impact across the globe. The Manager will work closely with the international CoCounsel development teams to identify and understand key features and their underlying functionality while also partnering closely with Product Management and UX Design. They may exercise influence and govern overall end-to-end software development life cycle related activities including management of support and maintenance releases, minor functional releases, and major projects. The Manager will lead & provide technical and professional guidance for process improvement programs while leveraging engineering best practices. In this people leadership role, Managers will recruit, train, motivate, coach, grow and develop team members at a variety of levels through their technical expertise and providing continuous feedback to ensure employee expectations, customer needs and product demands are met.

About the Role:

  • Manages hiring, performance management, and training for an international team of AI experts.
  • Manage and provide technical support to technical engineering team across multiple multi-lingual initiatives
  • Develop new approaches to solve somewhat ambiguous problems identified across the software development and translation lifecycle.
  • May manage budget for projects, programs or products within area

  • Applies knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications.
  • Manages building enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.
  • Provides suggestions for handling routine and moderately complex technical problems, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Uses technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain
  • Leads or sets strategy for testing and debugging at the platform or enterprise level.
  • In complex and unstructured situations, serves as an expert resource to create and improve standards and best practices to ensure high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables.
  • Leads the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
  • Comfortable talking about and learning about every part of the infrastructure/technology stack to find optimizations and efficiency
  • Demonstrates strong domain-specific knowledge regarding technology capabilities of our products
  • Communicates and coordinates with project team, partners, and stakeholders
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
  • May help in the procurement of services/solutions for the project.

About You:

  • JD or equivalent from US accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in at least 1 U.S. jurisdiction
  • Prior education and experience in one or more foreign languages, linguistics, and/or translation
  • Substantial experience working in the European, South American, and Asian legal markets, ideally with direct practice experience and/or linguistic capabilities serving those markets
  • Experience developing legal AI products, particularly to ensure quality, reliability, and accuracy
  • Experience and track record of managing and building high performance teams
  • Experience managing a team across multiple time zones with cross-collaborative stakeholders
  • Minimum 5 years' experience practicing law; mix of both litigation and transactional work preferred.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: Eagan, MN; Ann Arbor, MI; Richmond, VA; Rochester, NY. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $114,400 - $212,400. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
