DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Nurse Aide, your duties include providing care in the following areas: skilled care, personal care, outpatient, and general population. Work includes completing basic nursing skills and procedures to maintain optimum inmate health while providing quality care. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for collecting specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum. While demonstrating compassion and respect, you will assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene tasks to ensure basic physical care needs are met. This position gives you the opportunity to participate in life skills programming and perform emergency procedures when necessary. This includes following nursing care plan orders; providing care and interventions consistent with inmate's needs; documenting on assigned aspects of the nursing care plan; performing CPR and obstructed airway; as well as participating in emergency response drills.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, rotating days off, 5-day work week, with a 30 minute lunch.
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM)
- 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM)
- 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
- Note: Work schedules are to be determined at the time of hire.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
