Start the next chapter of your Career! The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is actively seeking a devoted and resourceful Architectural Consultant to join our Bureau of Operations. You will be responsible for performing advanced consultative, professional architecture work for the Department of Correction on a state-wide level.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Architectural Consultant, you will consult with vendors, Department of General Services (DGS) professionals, DGS private sector firms, and Governor's Office on project options which could include roofing, building type, location, building modifications, feasibility studies, and efficiency modeling. You will also manage and provide guidance to DGS for larger projects and provide DOC-specific information to outside entities such as security protocols, architectural design standards, blueprints, CAD files, building and facility information. Upon completion of design, the project is bid and awarded, and construction begins. You will be responsible for the design, management, and process of large, complex projects by working with hired registered architects/professionals to ensure the design is within budget and maximizes space and requirements per DOC policy as well as develops resolutions to architectural design or construction problems.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hrs. per week.
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to an office in Mechanicsburg. Please note, telework agreements are subject to change.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Architectural Designer 2; or
- Three years of professional architectural experience in building renovation or preservation and new construction for commercial, institutional, government, or educational buildings or structures, and a bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, or a closely related field which included major course work in architectural design; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require active licensure as a registered architect by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a reciprocal jurisdiction; or an active certification as issued by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
