And everyone, in their own unique way, plays an important part, every day. I. Major Responsibilities: 1. In collaboration with transplant surgeons and transplant physicians, arranges for new patient evaluation and pre-transplant work-up of potential recipients. 2. Arranges evaluation of all potential living donors for transplantation. 3. In collaboration with medical transplant physicians and/or the surgical transplant physicians, monitors patient's overall health status and intervenes when necessary during the waiting period prior to transplant. Responsible for assisting the pre-transplant patient to maintain optimal health status during this waiting period so that the patient may experience the best outcomes from transplantation. Communicates all patient issues and donor concerns to the appropriate transplant surgeon or physician. 4. Interacts with all transplant related physician staff and nursing staff and educates them to the best practices associated with transplantation. 5. Provides patient and family education through all phases of transplant, discharge planning for the transplant patient, as well as education for the inpatient hospital staff. II. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: 1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing. 2. Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license and registration. Preferred: 1. Master's degree in Nursing. 2. CCTC (Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator) certification. Experience/Skills: Required: 1. Three to five years tertiary care nursing. 2. Excellent interpersonal skills. 3. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
