Fleet Specialist

Position Summary

The Fleet Specialist oversees the daily operations and activities of the CFS Fleet Department, including maintenance and procurement. This role manages equipment and property to ensure safe, productive, and cost-effective fleet operations. The Fleet Specialist collaborates with various departments to meet program needs and implements long-range plans for return on investment strategies.



Key Responsibilities


  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the daily operations and activities of the CFS Fleet Department.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Fleet Department and other program departments, collaborating with Senior Leadership, Assistant Directors (ADs), and Residential Managers (RMs) to meet program needs.
  • Work with division and department leaders to prepare and implement strategic long-range plans (three to five years) with input from Senior Leadership. Assist in setting and managing departmental goals, objectives, training, policies, and procedures, suggesting modifications as needed and ensuring team accountability.
  • Maintain comprehensive cost management records and regularly assess the fleet's profitability. This includes the management of DOT parking permits, EZ-Pass, gas cards, and GPS systems.
  • Conduct quality control and safety inspections of fleet and equipment, ensuring adherence to safe work procedures and internal policies. This includes monitoring the EZ-pass, gas card, and GPS systems dashboard to oversee usage and detect any discrepancies or irregularities. Additionally, ensure the assignment and management of Geofob.
    Driver assignments, administer the organization's driving test to new drivers, manage and ensure the completion of Defensive Driving Courses by all agency-approved drivers, and ensure that all vehicle tickets have been paid by the employees.
  • Must attend and participate in professional group meetings to maintain awareness of new industry trends and developments. Incorporate new developments to provide a competitive advantage and actively contribute to the CFS "work safety committee" to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Manage CFS's fleet management program, including acquisition, leasing, utilization, preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicle and equipment fleet. Contribute to the annual budget development for vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies, as well as monitoring and approving expenditures.
  • Ensure effective management and oversight of all tools, materials, supplies, and equipment inventory.
  • Maintain records to track vehicle registrations, titles, etc. Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in a related field.
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of three (3) years of progressive responsibility in fleet and equipment management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position.


Salary and Benefits

$55,000-$63,000
