Position Summary

All Climate First employees must be willing to embrace the vision of an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economic system. The Sr. Underwriter - Structured Finance is a key player in developing, managing, and executing underwriting strategies for factoring and ABL portfolios. This hands-on role involves structuring deals, analyzing collateral and credit risks, and presenting recommendations to the credit committee. The Sr. Underwriter will be instrumental in refining underwriting processes, mentoring junior underwriters, and ensuring transactions align with bank policies, regulations, and sustainability objectives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Underwriting & Credit Analysis
    Independently underwrite factoring and ABL transactions, conducting in-depth financial, collateral, and credit risk analyses. Review financial statements, borrowing bases, A/R aging reports, and industry data to guide risk assessments and deal structuring. Ensure adherence to credit policy, regulatory standards, and risk guidelines.

  • Policy & Process Development
    Maintain expertise in credit policy. Develop and refine underwriting processes, templates, and best practices to enhance efficiency and consistency. Recommend updates to credit procedures, tools, and methodologies based on trends and feedback.

  • Deal Structuring & Documentation
    Structure financing solutions that balance client needs with risk mitigation. Prepare Credit Line Approval Forms emphasizing financial health, collateral quality, industry outlook, and proposed terms.

  • Credit Committee Engagement
    Present clear, data-driven recommendations to the credit committee and leadership. Address questions, clarify details, and offer strategic insights.

  • Portfolio & Relationship Management
    Conduct annual client reviews to reassess creditworthiness, collateral valuation, and covenant compliance. Coordinate timely field exams and audits with vendors. Monitor portfolio trends, identify risks, and adjust standards or deal structures as needed.

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
    Serve as a subject matter expert, guiding junior underwriters in financial analysis, risk evaluation, and structuring. Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and Operations for seamless execution and superior client service.

  • Understand and follow established Bank policies, procedures, and regulations, remaining mindful of suspicious transactions or inquiries, obtaining reasonable and verifiable explanations, and notifying the Compliance Officer when necessary. Complete all web-based compliance training and resolve all issues concerning BSA report reviews or suspicious activity and/or cash transactions.
Specific Requirements
  • Experience
    5-10 years of underwriting in factoring, ABL, or related fields.
  • Technical Skills
    Strong expertise in factoring and ABL structures, borrower profiling, collateral types, and financial statement analysis. Proficiency in borrowing base analyses, debtor assessments, and portfolio strategies.
  • Regulatory Knowledge
    Solid understanding of banking regulations, credit policies, and loan documentation standards.
  • Communication & Presentation
    Skilled at creating detailed credit memos and confidently presenting to executive committees.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving
    Excellent critical thinking and attention to detail, with the proven ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Collaboration & Adaptability
    Collaborative mindset with remote working experience.
Company Conformance

While performing your tasks, you must maintain an excellent knowledge of Board-approved policies, procedures, and regulations, including those defined by BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.

Physical/Work Conditions
