Senior Water Resources Project Engineer

S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Civil team in Greenville or Spartanburg, South Carolina as a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a Senior Water Resources Project Engineer, you will



  • Join an interdisciplinary team working on exciting projects ranging from stream restoration and stormwater management to flood modeling and dam rehabilitation.
  • Work closely with a Project Manager and a talented design team, you'll dive into fieldwork, craft innovative designs, conduct engineering analyses, and develop detailed project plans.
  • Assist with essential permit applications under the Clean Water Act Section 401/404. Beyond water resources, you'll have the opportunity to support our environmental, natural resource, geotechnical, and civil design projects, making a real impact on our world.


To be successful as a Water Resources Project Engineer with S&ME, you should have hands-on experience in hydrology and hydraulics modeling using tools like HEC-RAS, GeoHEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and EPA SWMM. Additionally, experience in developing grading plans, stormwater design and modeling, and stream and wetland mitigation design, plans, and permitting is a plus.

Who You Are:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • You have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam
  • You have 8-10 years of progressive experience in civil and water resources engineering projects
  • You are proficient in either AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/Gopak design software
  • You have excellent communication skills with peers and clients



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:



  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
