Construction Materials Project Manager

S&ME is looking for an experienced Project Manager specializing in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection (SI) projects to join our vibrant team in Greensboro, North Carolina. What You Will Do:

As a Construction Materials Project Manager, you'll play a critical role in overseeing and managing materials testing and special inspection projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance with industry standards.




  • Lead and manage Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects of varying scales, overseeing every phase, including budget allocations, scheduling, and resource allocation.



  • Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and ensure their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.



  • Supervise and mentor a team of professionals and field-based staff in client development and project management, providing guidance and training as needed.



  • Develop and maintain a local client base and professional network capable of generating sufficient revenue to meet financial objectives.



  • Support local business development and marketing efforts to expand market presence and opportunities.



  • Generate and review field and laboratory cost estimates and proposals in alignment with project plans, International Building Code (IBC) requirements, and client requests for proposals.





Who You Are:




  • You have a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.



  • You have 4+ years' experience with Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects with at least 1 year of project management experience.



  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain licensure in North Carolina within 6 months of the hire date.



  • You have a strong working knowledge of applicable ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, and IBC Special Inspections.



  • You have effective verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail. You should be able to develop and facilitate accurate technical materials.



  • Current ICC, ACI, and DOT certifications are a plus.





Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:




  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.



  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.



  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment).



  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.
