Overview

The Food Systems for Nutrition Innovation Lab (FSN-IL) generates new evidence and disseminates promising technologies and practices supporting the uptake of food system innovations that contribute to improved incomes, diet quality, resilience, and nutrition. In support of the United States Government's Feed the Future initiative on global hunger and food security, FSN-IL facilitates research for development and human and institutional capacity-building activities in low- and middle-income countries. The programs are funded by Unites States Agency for International Development (USAID).


What You'll Do

The Communications Specialist executes communications strategies that promote the goals and mission of the department, school, research program, or division. The Specialist develops high-quality, effective print materials and messaging, including researching and writing effective communications pieces. This position will:

  • Create design and layout of print and digital publications
  • Researches, recommends, and implements communications and marketing projects and strategies
  • Develops design and content for a website
  • Develops content and strategies for social media communications.

The Communications Specialist evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of communications strategies and recommends changes or improvements, and provides guidance to support staff, students, and temporary workers and coordinates work with outside vendors and consultants on projects.


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Bachelor's degree in a related area of study or equivalent and 3 - 5 years of professional communications experience
  • Design experience is a must and strong copyediting and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and experience in nutrition communications and public health in private or non-profit setting preferred

Pay Range

Minimum $58,750.00, Midpoint $73,550.00, Maximum $88,300.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
