What role will you play?
As an intern with Commodities and Global Markets, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills and build your career as you learn from in-house experts ranging from geologists to meteorologists, petroleum and mining engineers to data scientists, quant strategists to traders and advisers.
In this part of our business, you will partner with our clients to provide tailored solutions that maximize opportunities in global markets, including fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, technology, media and telecoms.Feel empowered to shape what's possible for your career through a direct placement based on your interests and our business need in one of the following areas:
Commodities (Houston/NYC) provides capital and financing, risk management, market access and physical execution and logistics services across the power, gas and emissions, agriculture and oil and resources sectors globally. The team also offers commodity-based products to institutional investors.
Financial Markets (NYC) provides clients with access to a wide range of service offerings across foreign exchange, rates, credit markets and listed derivatives markets. Our clients benefit from strong deal execution and specialist financing solutions that are underpinned by deep technical and fundamental market analysis. Financial Markets teams include:
  • Fixed Income and Currencies providing currency and fixed income trading and hedging services as well as financing via securitization, warehousing and financing solutions across to a range of asset classes for corporate and institutional clients globally.
  • Credit Markets providing warehouse solutions, settlement solution financing and related trading to institutional clients globally.
  • Futures providing a full range of execution, clearing and financing solutions to corporate and institutional clients, providing continuous 24-hour coverage of major markets globally.
Fixed Income & Currencies (NYC) provides fixed income trading, financing and hedging services to a range of corporate and institutional clients globally, with a focus on private funds, corporates and emerging markets (South America focused).
In this role, you will be introduced to a fast-paced sales and trading environment. You will learn how markets function, macro themes and be introduced to corporate finance and structuring. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn about a wide array of products from spot and forward rates to structured options and finance. As well as being exposed to a range of clients from leading private equity firms to family offices in South America.
Asset Finance (NYC) delivers a diverse range of tailored finance solutions globally across a variety of industries and asset classes.
As part of this ten-week internship with Commodities and Global Markets, you will:
  • Complete meaningful and challenging work allowing you to gain practical experience to tie into your theoretical knowledge from school.
  • Take part in an orientation where you'll learn about Macquarie's business groups with your fellow Macquarie interns and receive technical training.
  • Receive support and guidance from your manager and aligned mentor.
  • Participate in philanthropic and social events to connect you to our inclusive culture.
  • Present a project you worked on during the program to senior management.
What you offer
  • You have a unique perspective. We want to hear it. This internship is for students expecting to graduate between December 2026 - June 2027.
  • You are a critical thinker with strong numerical skills and can articulate your thoughts and ideas clearly.
  • You like to collaborate with others and are comfortable building strong working relationships.
  • You have an interest in financial services and bring a proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude as well as a strong work ethic.
  • You have a strong attention to detail with experience and comfort in Excel.
Salary Range
Estimated salary amount is the equivalent of $90,000 - $110,000 annually, prorated for the length of time of the internship. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
