The university academic base salaries as to rank and step can be found here UC salary scales. However, for this position the total negotiated salary uses AAMC salary benchmarks for Anatomic Pathology ranging from $186,648.33 - $369,100.33. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. Application Window Open date: January 6, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Feb 28, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Jan 6, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to serve as the Assistant/Associate Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research and teaching effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities. Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research and have demonstrated excellence in teaching. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate The selected candidate will be the Assistant or Associate Director of the Histocompatibility Laboratory supporting the UCI Health kidney and hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs. Leadership experience and expertise in histocompatibility are required. Applicants (MD, DO, MD/PhD, or PhD) must meet the applicable requirements to be eligible for California Laboratory Director licensure in histocompatibility. All candidates must be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Pathology or a diplomate of the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI). In addition, candidates must be certified or be eligible for certification as a Laboratory Director by ACHI (either as an Affiliate or Fellow of the ACHI). Applicants with an MD or equivalent degree must also have or be eligible for a California medical license. Preference will be given to individuals with significant prior clinical histocompatibility experience. The successful candidate will provide support for solid-organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation candidates and donors, histocompatibility for transfusion support, sharing on-call histocompatibility duties, providing virtual crossmatch consultations and assisting the Laboratory Director with clinical laboratory work, management tasks, new assay validation, and quality assurance. The selected candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, a strong interest in service activities, a commitment to education, and a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature. In addition to clinical service, the candidate will be expected to serve on department and hospital committees, and teach medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates with an MD or DO degree will share on-call duties for all Clinical Pathology services except Transfusion Medicine.
