Construction Materials Engineering Technician Entry-Level

S&ME is seeking individual(s) to join our Service Line team in Raleigh, NC as an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring construction quality while enjoying a supportive environment committed to your professional development. You will work outdoors, on-site, supporting projects from start to finish, and your work will directly impact the success and safety of construction projects while building skills that will last a lifetime.

* Review project requirements thoroughly before heading to the field, ensuring clarity and precision in execution.
* Perform accurate tests on construction materials, documenting your results and observations in detail.
* Use Metafield and other tools to efficiently manage and organize project data.
* Conduct inspections following International Building Code (IBC) standards to maintain structural integrity.
* Work closely with contractors, managers, and clients, providing updates and addressing project needs proactively.

Who You Are:

* You have a High School diploma/GED
* You have 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
* One (1) or more active certifications, a plus:



  • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
  • International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
  • DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
    * You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
    * You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
    * You can proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
* Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
* Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
* Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
* Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
