Position Summary: The Recovery Mentor position is responsible for providing mentoring services within the Federal Probation/Parole & HOPE Program. This position is responsible for substance use recovery support and assertive case management for clients who have been referred through the Federal Probation/Parole & HOPE Program. We seek culturally responsive mentors who have experienced similar situations during their own transition to a crime-free life.

Compensation: $21.79 - $29.04/hour (Depends on Experience and/or Certifications). This is a full-time position with excellent benefits! Benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, 403(b) with automatic 5.5% contribution after 18-months regardless of employee participation, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and other voluntary benefits and discounts. A generous paid time off plan includes 15 days in the first year, 23 days in the second year, and 26 days in the third year, in addition to 10 paid holidays and 3 paid personal holidays per year.

Education, Training & Experience:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* MHACBO Recovery Mentor certification (CRM) required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

* Experience working with individuals who are in recovery from substance use disorders, and who are experiencing mental illness.

* Experience with engagement enhancement strategies.

* Mission-focused and passionate.

* Commitment to the highest level of ethical and professional standards.

* Experience with electronic health records preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Ability to work with pre-contemplative individuals while providing quality support with compassion and empathy.

* Ability to develop rapport with clients, staff and other community partners while maintaining professional boundaries.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Knowledge of resources and programs in the Multnomah County area.

* Familiar with addiction and the recovery process.

* Well-developed clinical documentation skills and the ability to write accurate and concise reports.

* Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

* Ability to maintain professional boundaries in challenging situations.

* Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.

* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word and Outlook.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

* Reliable vehicle, active driver's license, current insurance, and ability to pass our insurer's driving standards and criminal background check.

* Must meet the requirements set forth by OAR 309-019-0125 Staff Qualifications and Competencies as well as the CRM certification requirements set forth by MHACBO.

* CPR certification, or completion of certification within 30 days of hire.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Introduce program participants to the 12-step and other community recovery meetings or support systems.

* Assist participants in obtaining food stamps, food boxes, and personal identification as needed.

* Monitor and assist program participants to follow through on a case management plan designed by the individual.

* Help program participants to prepare resumes, teach job readiness skills, and connect them with job development programs and employers.

* Transport program participants to appointments, recovery activities, and to obtain resources, or treatment needs.

* Work in a friendly, collaborative manner with community partners, including frequent communication with each participant's primary counselor and parole officer.

* Follow VOA policies and procedures and all relevant state and federal regulations and standards.

* Attend and actively participate in individual and group supervision, weekly staffing and other meetings as assigned by the clinical supervisor.

* Perform CPR in case of emergency.

Work Environment: Environmental Conditions: Work is in a professional treatment clinic setting and involves local travel to attend meetings, appointments and events.

Schedule: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs. per week, Tuesday - Saturday with some special events hours.
