Position Purpose
The Senior Staff Accountant is heavily involved with the day-to-day accounting functions for the Bank, Holding Company and other related entities. The Senior Staff Accountant will assist with month end, quarter end and year end close processes, as necessary. This includes general ledger review, reconciliation preparation, and analytical research of general ledger entries. This position takes part in certain aspects of recurring and special projects.


Position Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting functions for Capital Bank and related companies including preparing monthly general ledger account reconciliations in a timely manner. Research reconciling items to ensure they are resolved within 30 days. Communicate recurring reconciling issues or unusual reconciling items to management.
  • Daily reconciliation and review of the FRB account.
  • Manage the Fixed Asset and Prepaid processes, ensuring that all inputs are entered to software timely and accurately.
  • Assist with the Accounts Payable process.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Controller to ensure all accounting policies and procedures are updated on at least an annual basis.
  • Process quarterly tax payments for the Company.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules/information for internal and external auditors.
  • Act as back-up for Assistant Controller when needed and assist and develop other staff within the accounting department as needed.



Minimum Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5 years of experience working with general ledger reconciliation, month-end closing, and general accounting processes.
  • Previous experience in the banking or financial services industry preferred.


Technical Knowledge and Skills



  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a deadline driven environment.
  • Solid understanding of accounting functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)



Working Arrangements



  • This is a hybrid role expected to work in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. You will be able to work remotely on Wednesday.


Compensation:



  • Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 annually. Final determination of where you are at in the salary range is based on numerous factors such as relevant experience, skill set, education, and ability to meet qualifications within the job description.
  • Additional Compensation: This role will include a yearly annual target bonus based on individual performance.
