Your tasks

  • Summary:
  • The Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products, processes, and systems comply with relevant standards and certifications for engineered plastic piping systems, including internal, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 and external certification audits.
  • Plans, prepares, and leads internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and other relevant standards.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for auditors from ISO Certification Services and other organizations such as the US Coast Guard, NSF, and ANSI.
  • Maintains and updates documentation, procedures, and policies to meet or exceed certification requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with standards applicable to engineered plastics, including PVC, CPVC, PPFR, PPNFR, HDPE, and others used in manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate compliance requirements into product designs and production processes.
  • Monitors changes in regulatory and certification requirements, ensuring timely updates to company policies and procedures.
  • Develops and delivers training for employees on compliance and certification standards.
  • Conducts gap analyses and implements corrective actions to address non-conformities identified during audits.
  • Prepares compliance reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversees testing and inspection activities to ensure that products meet or exceed certification standards.
  • Facilitates communication with certifying bodies and regulatory agencies to maintain certifications and resolve any compliance issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your profile

  • Required Skills/Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards and audit processes.
  • Expertise in external certifications relevant to plastic piping systems, including US Coast Guard, NSF, ANSI, and other applicable standards.
  • Strong understanding of materials such as PVC, CPVC, PPFR, PPNFR, HDPE, and their application in piping systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external auditors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and related software.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and tools used in quality and compliance.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in compliance, quality assurance, or related role, with a focus on plastics manufacturing.
  • Proven experience leading both internal and external audits, including hosting auditors.
  • Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or similar qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with certifications from organizations such as US Coast Guard, NSF, ANSI, or other relevant bodies required.
  • Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
  • Exposure to machine noise.
  • Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production and warehouse area.
  • Working conditions are normal for a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
  • This role may require walking in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Travel up to 15% may be required.
