Position Scope/Decision Making Authority:
This position is responsible for receiving customer orders, assisting in product selection and scheduling trucking for delivery of aggregate and products.
Essential Functions
Receives customer orders and assists customers in identifying proper products needed for specific end uses.
Accurately enters orders into the APEX system.
Works with the Sales Service Center to obtain project information and pricing, as necessary.
Oversees driver/truck scheduling effectively balancing our capabilities with demand. Schedules and adequate company and independent drivers to deliver customer orders at each facility on a daily basis. Adjusts the schedule as necessary. Tactfully balances our capabilities, effective delivery times and costs with customer demands.
Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation rules and regulations including but not limited to hours of service;
Reviews daily order entry for completeness and accuracy for each facility. Ensures the plant has the capability to meet customer needs in a timely manner. Makes adjustments as necessary.
Adjusts number of trucks scheduled for each customer job throughout the day as necessary to avoid downtime and to address operational issues.
Reports immediately any delivery problems to service or sales representatives for quick resolution or mitigation.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Skills Required:
Education: High School or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Experience: Experience that has included dispatching, customer relations, and construction/transportation; administrative or sales experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to maintain satisfactory customer relations and possess good math skills.
Ability to plan ahead to effect timely product delivery according to schedule; work at fast pace and prioritize work; and communicate effectively with customers as well as truckers.
Knowledge of paving, concrete and construction materials and trucks and transportation requirements and regulations.
Skilled in using computers to record information and create reports; scheduling and organizing large numbers of people and equipment efficiently and quickly; reading maps.
Must be able to work independently and make decisions while providing excellent customer service by phone and in person.
Ability to memorize and recall detailed information; communicate effectively with customers as well as truckers; work independently and make decisions; and handle multiple tasks concurrently; and work well under pressure.
Solid understanding of the aggregate and asphalt business functions as well as key drivers for sales, logistics and customer satisfaction.
Strong logistics, dispatch and customer service
Environmental and safety regulations in trucking and terminal operations.
D.O.T, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations;
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

Must be able to sit for long periods;
Able to use common office tools and technology, such as cell/office telephone, calculator, computer, and other electronic devices.
Able to work varying work schedule, nights and weekends.
