In the role of Health & Safety Specialist, we'll count on you to:

Responsibilities:



  • In the role of a Safety and Health Specialist, will report directly to the New York Construction Control Corporation's (CCC) Construction Health & Safety Officer. This position will be supporting our client in Olivebridge, NY near the Ashokan Reservoir.
  • Assist in development of site-specific safety plans / programs, Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) and other administrative functions in support of project/office SH&E requirements
  • Have knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state and be able to support SH&E training as part of company and client requirements
  • Have knowledge of company SH&E websites, processes and procedures such as use of company's incident reporting system, WorkCare and other SH&E department policies and guidelines in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • This position carries a high level of independence; the successful candidate must be self-motivated, a good communicator, and a creative thinker. Will work interactively with local HDR Management and HDR Corporate H&S department. A valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to HDR's motor vehicle policy is required. Routine local car travel is a requirement of this position.


Preferred Qualifications





    • BS degree in occupational health/safety or related field
    • Extensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standards
    • Ability to assist in the instruction and facilitation of Safety, Health and Environmental training courses
    • Team-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirements
    • Certification as an Associate or Graduate Safety Professional (ASP or GSP) is a must prior to starting in this position.
    • Willingness to work in the field and travel as needed.

  • A minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate degree) in occupational health/safety related field
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standards
  • Ability to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training courses
  • Team-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirements
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
