Department Overview

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and morethan 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E's successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

Position Summary

Ensures the cost effectiveness, resource allocation evaluation, and interdependency assessment for large scale projects within Engineering and project management programs of PG&E's watersheds. Establishes the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Earned Value Cost Management System, project schedules, and risk management guidelines. Develops project scopes, scheduling, and cost-benefit analysis for capital and expense projects. Ensures all projects, tools, and procedures are in compliance with safety and risk management.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $151,000

Bay Area Maximum: $257,000

California Maximum: $244,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Communicates project status to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with others to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within a department to meet new goals and objectives.
  • Ensures project design meets requirements.
  • Acts as the primary contact for oversight and delivery of moderate to high risk project initiatives including project initiation, assembling multi-disciplinary project teams, defining scope, budget and resource needs and controlling project risks and variables.
  • Evaluates methodologies, best practices, tools, processes, procedures and technology assessing potential fit, benefits, and impacts for engineering work and projects assigned.
  • Implements and effectively uses company and industry standard scheduling and planning systems
  • Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 5 years
  • PE-Professional Engineer license
  • Ability to travel up to 40 percent of working time

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in safety management, or related
  • Experience in project planning
  • Leadership experience
  • LSS-Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • CCM-Certified Construction Manager certification
