Department Overview

Power Generation operates and maintains PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation and battery storage facilities, providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. Our nearly 900 coworkers are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner. Our hydro facilities include 62 conventional hydro powerhouses, a pumped-storage facility, 98 reservoirs, 168 dams and morethan 200 miles of canals and flumes, among other water conveyances. Natural gas-fired plants in operation are Humboldt Bay Generating Station in Eureka; Colusa Generating Station in Colusa County and Gateway Generating Station in Antioch. Several utility-scale solar generation plants also are operated and maintained, as well as PG&E's successful entry into battery energy storage, our Elkhorn Battery facility at Moss Landing in Monterey County.

Position Summary

Provides subject matter expertise for plans related to hydroelectric powerhouse equipment, preventative and corrective construction and maintenance support as well as capital project testing and support for Protection, Automation, and Controls.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $132,000

Bay Area Maximum: $226,000

California Minimum: $125,000

California Maximum: $215,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Creates an incident and injury free culture by engaging all employees to take a personal proactive role to identify and eliminate "at risk" behaviors.
  • Ensures reliable generation and substation performance by eliminating outages and responding immediately when they occur. Continues to educate each member of the workforce about the importance of taking a proactive, personal role in the identification and prevention of incidents and Work Errors.
  • Constructs and maintains all generation, transmission and substation facilities per Standards to prevent re-work and premature failure. Complies with all compliance requirements.
  • Creates a Human Performance culture by engaging all employees, improving skills and eliminating potential obstacles for error free work and best practices in Test Department process and procedures in order to remove potential for Test Errors.
  • Completes all generation associated expense and capital work within cost, scope and schedule.
  • Efficiently performs work through better planning and scheduling, process improvement, and providing proper tools, equipment, and training. Continue to implement a standard method to identify, prioritize and schedule all billable work.
  • Creates and performs test plans
  • Supports creating start-up test plans and executes plan
  • Supervises staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering-Electrical or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience, 5 years
  • Electrical Technician certification
  • Electrician Journey certification

Desired:

  • Experience in hydro power plant
  • Experience with work management tools
