Job Description

WGL - Sr Systems Administrator

This critical role is responsible for working closely with the Gas Supply Operations and SCADA teams to exclusively support the full stack of digital infrastructure in the gas utility's Operational Technology (OT) environment. In collaboration with your teammates, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, repair and monitoring of all OT systems. You will contribute to the stability, security and functionality of the natural gas distribution critical infrastructure underpinning the Nation's Capital. You will be expected to be available for support 24/7/365 and contribute to during regulatory audits. Join us in driving technological excellence and innovation in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will:

  • Manages network engineering projects to ensure high availability up-time to mission critical LAN/WAN systems.
  • Provides 24/7/365 support to Washington Gas and Gas Supply Operations (GSO). Requires the ability to work on-call for nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
  • Provide technical support for various networking projects, recommend and implement solutions to infrastructure problems, and interact with GSO and SCADA personnel on a regular basis.
  • Participate in the architecture and capacity planning for data network environments, including all GSO LAN, Data Center, Virtualization, End Points, VLAN networks, storage, and 3000+ node WAN.
  • Design, implement, repair and monitor all aspects of logical security infrastructure deployed to safeguard the integrity of GSO and Washington Gas Corporate computing facilities.
  • Develops, configures, deploys, and maintain Windows Server security, including creation and configuration of domains and domain level privileges/settings.
  • Maintains and creates all network and security architecture diagrams using MS Visio and other tools.
  • Identifies and resolves client response time issues.
  • Responsible for deploying, patching and troubleshooting Windows OS environment.
  • Analyzes client requirements and recommends appropriate hardware and software solutions to optimize workflow and efficiency.
  • Develops disaster recovery planning as it pertains to data networks.
  • Provides management with recommendations for the revision of current data network technology and the adoption of any new technology in the environment.
  • Analyzes and develops network design and security details for individual project implementations

You have:

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering or other technical/related field required
  • 5+ Years Experience in designing and implementing mid-size to large-scale LAN/WAN environments and IT security topologies required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
  • Network engineering experience with a major utility or large company preferred.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting networking protocols such as required: TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, SMTP and SFTP. Required
  • Experience configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting Windows Server OS Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, enterprise firewalls, SSL VPNs, SSO, anti-virus products, IDS, ESX, VMWare, SRM, Manage Engine, Windows Terminal Services and other application platforms.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office applications, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors and peers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency managing projects.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary range of $102,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
