Summary
Specializes in the diagnosis and study of diseases by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. Responsible for identifying abnormalities that can help diagnose diseases and manage treatment. This role works independently, under direct and indirect supervision, and performs technical and clerical tasks required for the efficient functioning of the laboratory.
Essential Functions
Examines tissues and cells to diagnose diseases and conditions.
Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss diagnoses and treatment options.
Provides expert advice and consultation to healthcare professionals and patients regarding test results and treatment options.
Assists with lab maintenance including cleaning, restocking, and specimen discarding.
Accurately triages and accessions all specimens.

Education
Associate's Degree Related Field of Study required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience within Anatomic Pathology lab 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict.
- Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.
