About the Role:

Fantastic opportunity to be in the intersection of business and science as a key member of the R&D Finance team. Neurocrine Biosciences is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Finance business partner to support the Research and Development and Medical Affairs organizations. This position will play a key role in providing strategic financial advice to Neurocrine's Program Teams and R&D Functions, enabling success through financial planning and data-driven decision-making. The Finance business partner will join an enthusiastic and growing FP&A team, adding value through analysis, reporting review and planning while working closely with senior leaders across the organization.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Adds significant value to R&D pipeline programs and functions by creating and/or updating financial models and analyses that support decision-making and provide key insights to Senior Leaders and R&D project teams

  • Acts as a business partner for the assigned R&D organizations as an embedded resource to deliver financial and business planning analysis, reporting, and strategic insights and to provide continuous improvements in financial processes

  • Develops and reviews financial reports with the business, including monthly and quarterly financial reports and associated variance reporting to budget and prior periods

  • Partners with the assigned R&D organization to support financial planning efforts including full-year budget, long-range plan, and quarterly latest estimate process

  • Performs ad-hoc analyses as needed that lead to actionable recommendations for the business (e.g., analyze capital requirements, depreciation expenditure, return on investment)

  • Monitors and provides monthly expense analyses on complex projects/problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of tangible and intangible variables

  • Collaborates with cross-functional business partners and teams within R&D, Medical Affairs, Human Resources and Accounting

  • Challenges and develops current process and methodologies and pushes for improvement

  • Performs other functions and projects as assigned by the Senior Management

  • May work on other project that are specific to the assigned organization

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in finance, accounting or related fieldand8+ years of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) experience within biopharma organization preferred. FP&A systems experienceOR

  • Master's degree or MBA preferredand6+ years of related experience

  • Has knowledge of best practices in Finance and Accounting and familiarity with the broader underlying concepts of related business disciplines

  • Experience in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred

  • R&D and/or drug development Finance experience a plus

  • Interested in R&D, drug development and making an impact on patients' lives

  • Works to improve tools and processes within functional area

  • Develops reputation inside the company as it relates to area of expertise

  • Ability to work as part of multiple cross-functional teams

  • Exhibits leadership skill and ability, typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teams

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Sees broader picture, impact on multiple departments/divisions

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary for communication with company and functional leadership

  • FP&A systems expertise

  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to bridge communication gaps between finance and non-finance communities

  • Ability to handle confidential materials and information in a professional manner

  • Process improvement mindset, self-motivated and self-directed

  • US GAAP knowledge

  • Must be computer proficient including advanced user level of Microsoft Excel

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $117,300.00-$170,050.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
