Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility and general maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the cleanliness of the production floor and warehouse and exterior of the building (parking lot and surrounding areas)
• Picks up trash and yard waste and sweeps areas as needed on the outside of the building daily.
• Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Operates floor scrubbing machine to clean production and warehouse floors one to two times per week and as required.
• Retrieves filled trash can bags, replaces trash bins with trash bags and disposes garbage two to three times per day and as required.
• Moves equipment or supplies, either manually or operating work carts or manual pallet jacks.
• Assists with basic painting projects and other continuous improvement projects throughout the facility.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance of facility equipment as assigned.
• Operates box compactor daily.
• Notifies manager of any health or safety concerns observed while completing primary responsibilities.
• Responds to emergency maintenance issues that require immediate attention.
• Completes special cleaning projects as required.
• Serves as a backup to Housekeeping assisting with cleaning and stocking bathrooms, offices and cafeteria.
• Performs other duties as assigned which could include cross-training in production departments.
• Keeps all sensitive matters confidential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Enthusiastic positive person who embraces work with a sense of urgency and persistence
• Detail oriented to ensure thorough cleaning is completed.
• Able to practice safe cleaning and disposal practices.
• Chemical safety and usage knowledge
• Ability to walk and stand for an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working with ladders and heights
• Able to work overtime, including Saturdays as needed.
• Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions (appropriate footwear).

Education and Experience

• Experience cleaning in a manufacturing environment preferred.

The hourly range for this posted position is $14.00- $17.00 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Florida. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
