Job Overview

Hoxworth Blood Center (HBC) was founded in 1938 and serves more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, HBC collects more than 100,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in area hospitals. HBC is located within the University of Cincinnati (UC), College of Medicine (COM). UC COM has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, UC COM's faculty and staff are transforming the world of medicine every day.



Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, seeking a full-time Division Director of Clinical Research, to direct the operation management of staff, assets, and fiscal resources. The candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing research strategies, identifying and analyzing trends and data, and providing decision-makers with actionable insights.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the education of Medical Technology students and Blood Banking graduate students on rotation into the department.
  • Direct the management of the department budget; establishes guidelines for processing fees and charges; recommend and approve purchases.
  • Develop policies and implements procedures specific to the division.
  • Serve on Hoxworth, industry, or university committees and act as liaison to university departments and external entities.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree.

Required Trainings/Certifications

For technical roles, a CLS or SBB certification may be required.

Required Experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience.
  • At least five (5) years of direct supervision.
