Posted Date: Feb 13 2025 The Business Operations Director serves as an independent contributor, collaborating with the aligned business leader(s) to drive operational excellence and support the company's growth and success. They will function as a dynamic and influential, challenging partner, orchestrating, organizing, and expediting key operational activities within Vx/ID R&D essential to execute the Vx/ID R&D strategy at pace and with required focus. This exciting role will be at the heart and soul of the new Cambridge Park Drive campus which will fully open in 2025. This location is an R&D site where both Pharma and Vx/ID will be located together with new facilities and new ways of working. The Business Operations Director will be accountable for working with the Vx/ID R&D leaders that are based at CPD along with other Boston sites where Vx/ID R&D maintains a presence Job Description: This role is pivotal in implementing the function's strategy to deliver medicines and vaccines to patients. You will improve the function's performance by implementing efficient and effective operational processes, supporting acceleration initiatives, and driving key projects. This role is also key in enhancing operational efficiency and promoting collaboration and alignment among GSK sites in the Greater Boston area. As a highly motivated professional with strong agile learning skills, you excel at bringing clarity and structure to ambiguous situations and identifying opportunities for improvement to drive operational excellence and support effective decision-making. In the role of Business Operations Director, you will provide strategic advice to the senior leader(s) of your assigned business area(s). You are responsible for ensuring focus and efficiency while maintaining high-quality outcomes. By networking across Vx/ID R&D, and other relevant R&D functions, you will collaborate with peers and stakeholders to maximize impact. Your strong critical thinking skills will enable you to challenge existing practices thoughtfully, promoting continuous performance improvement for both your team and business areas. Key responsibilities include leading the implementation and monitoring of department strategies and operational plans, and organizing to ensure the leadership team operates effectively and achieves high performance. This includes support to the LT in driving effective resource and risk management. The role also involves leveraging data and technology to achieve operational excellence by employing advanced tools and systems that streamline processes, enhance productivity, and maintain quality. By integrating automation, data analytics, and digital platforms, you will optimize processes, reduce errors, and make well-informed decisions to foster continuous improvement and innovation. Responsibilities: This position offers you the opportunity to take charge of critical activities that ensure the smooth operation of various business segments, while working closely with other key stakeholders. These responsibilities include some of the following activities (not exhaustive): * Actively plan, facilitate, and participate at Leadership Team meetings to ensure delivery of strategic and operational line needs. * Translate team thinking into a sound and effective strategy. * Partner with leadership team to develop and facilitate the execution and monitoring of the team's objectives. * Implement framework to monitor business performance, leveraging enterprise thinking and solutions with broad impact. * Partner with finance and resource management leads to enhance the accuracy of forecasted demand versus actuals. Collaborate closely with the resource management lead to ensure that the comparison of resource tracking and forecasts versus demand is a regular agenda item in leadership team meetings. * Challenge the business line to collect accurate EFT data by conducting monthly reviews with your leadership team. Success criteria include achieving a specified percentage of project direct work. * Facilitate and ensure that each business line conducts quarterly risk management meetings. Promote a positive approach to risk management within the business, and if necessary, raise awareness of any risks needing escalation to the Vx/ID RDLT. * Have an innovative approach to improve how things get done, simplify and drive change to allow the business to perform as effectively as possible. * Own and manage complex projects and activities from first plans to final delivery. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) required with minimum of 7 years of vaccines and pharmaceutical experience. * 3+ years' experience in a business operations role (or similar) supporting a senior leadership team within a vaccine and drug development organization. * 3+ years project leadership and management skills. * Experienced in change management approaches on a range of projects / programs at multiple organizational levels including VP level and above. * Experienced in creating/using data analytics to drive performance. Preferred Qualifications: * An experienced business operations professional with vaccines R&D experience * Advanced Degree, preferably in sciences or Business Administration Why GSK?
