Position Overview

Serves as a Fayetteville plant instrumentation technician. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting plant process instrumentation and control systems. Strives to enhance knowledge of PLC and HMI systems. Ensures work is captured in SAP maintenance module system. Participates in plant safety, environmental, and production programs, including improvement teams. Assists with maintenance activities as necessary.

Job Responsibilities


  • Coordinates, schedules, and completes work orders and PM inspections, in cooperation with operations personnel, on all I&E work.
  • Inputs information into SAP maintenance system to record accomplishment and document repair.
  • Performs hands-on installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting for all process equipment.
  • Supports safety improvements and PSM activity.
  • Supports environmental programs and improvements.
  • Supports capital project work.
  • Build maintenance/equipment technical data and update equipment files.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of essential maintenance materials and critical equipment spare parts.
  • Interact with vendors in getting parts identified properly for ordering and delivery.
  • Gain an intimate understanding of process and process variables.
  • Configures, installs, and terminates instrumentation and controls per wiring schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Provides marked-up documentation as required for "as-builts.
  • Works closely with the Regional Process Control Specialist to maintain consistent instrumentation practices and standards.
  • Models excellence in EHS, Housekeeping, Leadership, and always ensures EHS compliance.
  • Models team behavior; works well with others.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; learns quickly and is detail oriented.
  • Continues to enhance knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
  • Maintain site wide electrical equipment, including but not limited to: Motor Control Centers, Process Electrical Controls, up to 480volt systems.

  • This role is eligible for overtime and may be required on-occasion.
  • This role is part of an on-call rotation with other IE technicians.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent is required. Post Secondary education certificate or degree required (experience may be considered in lieu of degree). AS degree in Electronics Technology or Instrumentation preferred. 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment as electronics, instrumentation or approved maintenance/electrical technician required. Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming and I/O equipment a plus.

Physical: Walking, driving, standing, lifting 55 pounds repeatedly, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing. Ability to enter confined spaces and wear a respirator.

Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately and possess eye-hand motor coordination.

Temperaments: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes, or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions, and perform repetitive work.
