Job Overview:
The Specialty Group comprises 3 market leading Brands - Haskel, BuTech and Hartell, with 2025 forecast global revenues of $114M. The Director of Sales - Americas - Leads and drives sustained sales growth of our Haskel & BuTech brands with a 2025 forecast of $50m for the region. Reporting into this position is Americas Inside Sales and Application Engineering Manager and the Americas field sales team. This person owns the Bookings and expense budget for the area of responsibility and is held accountable for sustained growth and maximizing quoted gross margin. The Director of Sales-Americas sits on the Leadership team within the Specialty Group.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a market leading brand image by driving discipline and excellence in customer-facing activities. (Professional sales force, sales tools, etc...)
- Meet and exceed bookings targets through hands on leadership of the sales organization.
- Management of a small number of multi-million $ key accounts. Working alongside and with corporate level sales team(s) in LATAM region.
- Contribute to an effective and ongoing SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process by forecasting effectively. Complete data sheets for monthly SIOP meetings.
- Conduct weekly Sale Funnel meetings reviewing the orders due for the month and the quarter as well as counter measuring any gaps to forecast.
- Identify poorly performing distributors (Distributor Dashboards) and find new Industrial Distribution partners.
- Accountable for hiring, training, and deployment of the best talent available. Also held accountable for developing strong talent succession.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Product Management organization on strategy deployment, products, market development, industry trends, etc.
- Drive and manage all aspects of the business utilizing CRM.
- Write and present detailed business plans to support resource recommendations or business initiatives.
- Grow the business by capturing increased market share through current product offerings and new product introductions.
- Lead an effective Customer Support and Applications Engineering organization.
- Design and deploy effective value stream maps and process flow layouts for optimum customer and channel support.
- Interact closely with Senior Management throughout the organization to set company policy regarding sales operations and forecasting.
- Root cause evaluation and problem solving inside and outside the organization.
- Work closely with Finance to deliver expected results for the assigned Booking Forecast and Expense budget for sales and service.
- Responsible for understanding and driving IR Commercial Excellence, (Ingersoll Rand SDX).
- Work with Product Management, Engineering and Demand Generation to build Value Selling Tools to help maximize sales margins.
- Lead sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
- Maintain strong customer and channel partner relationships.
- Review and control expenses to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Prepare monthly sales reports as required by the monthly Commercial Review.
- Collaborates closely with Marketing / Demand Generation to provide input from customers and market data to build leads, sales targets, strategies, and plans.
- Participates in "Make Life Better" (MLB) and Global Product Strategy, (GPS) sessions by providing market feedback and market strategies. Builds on these with Daily Management, (IDM) plans and KPI's to ensure swift, thorough and continually improving roll out.
- Work with and facilitate VoC activity with Product management, Demand Generation and Engineering.
- Coordinate with other International Sales Directors to build Standard Work for all key processes.
- Employee Engagement - Responsible for the Engagement of the Americas Commercial Team.
Skills and Experience:
- Great team player and communicator
- Ability to build a high-performance team.
- Technical knowledge in core markets such as Oil and Gas, Industrial Gas, Hydrogen, Aero-Defense, Machine Building, Fluid Power, Industrial Hydraulic and General Industry.
- Computer expertise to include strong competency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Salesforce CRM, MS Power Point, etc. Quick study of new computer tools and able to then serve as a trainer for subordinates.
- Ability to "stand alone" in an organization when it comes to problem solving. (Identifying root cause of issues, coming up with the solution, and quickly driving for results.) Ability to put together a concise proposal to Senior Management to facilitate decision making.
- Advanced Sales Channel management experience.
- OEM & Direct Selling experience
- Experience and expertise using CRM to spearhead a large, national sales organization.
- Experience and expertise in evaluating a trading area against the 5 P's.
- Sales quota development and supervision.
- BS degree in Engineering and/or Business discipline desired or equivalent experience (+10 years) showing upward advancement in responsibilities.
- 10+ years of experience in selling through multiple channels
- Pump Industry / Industrial Machinery experience highly preferred.
- Proven track record of sales growth.
- Ability to manage and inspire a remote sales team.
- Data driven with knowledge of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or equivalent.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Results driven with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to move to the next level and beyond.
- BS degree in Engineering and/or Business discipline desired or equivalent experience (+10 years) showing upward advancement in responsibilities.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
This position will be remotely based in the United States, preferably on the West Coast near a major airport, with at least 50% anticipated travel.
The total pay range for this role, including incentive opportunities, is $160,000-$190,000. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. The hired applicant will be eligible to receive (discretionary/nondiscretionary) annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
