Limited Term Assistant Professor of Economics

All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean.

The Department of Economics at Georgia State University is nationally recognized for its research, teaching, and service in economics and policy analysis. The department offers a range of degree programs at all levels, including the Bachelor of Science in Economics, Master of Arts in Economics, Ph.D. in Economics, and a variety of interdisciplinary programs. The department is home to a large group of 30 full-time faculty members who are internationally known for their research on public, labor, health, urban and environmental, and experimental economics. Faculty regularly collaborate with major research centers at the Andrew Young School, such as the Public Finance Research Cluster, the Georgia Policy Labs, and the Georgia Health Policy Center as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, positioning the department as a leader in addressing key societal issues through applied research. The department's commitment to experiential learning ensures that students engage with real-world policy challenges through internships, community-based projects, and public service, preparing them to become effective leaders across all sectors.

The Department of Economics of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University invites applications for visiting position at an Assistant Professor level, with the position beginning August 2025. The appointment may have the possibility of renewal, depending upon future allocations of faculty positions. This position involves substantial teaching responsibilities in both lower and upper-level undergraduate courses.

While the position is open across fields, teaching experience or the ability to teach courses in some of the following areas at the undergraduate (or MA) level are a plus: econometrics, international economics, money and banking, industrial organization, and applied quantitative analysis, while at the same time being comfortable with core courses (principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, and/or global economics). Online teaching experience is also a plus.

This position is located on the Atlanta campus of Georgia State University and requires in-person, on campus-based work. The Andrew Young School maintains a flexible work environment. This position is planned to begin in August 2025.

A PhD in Economics at the time of appointment.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal and educational background check that includes terminal degree verification.
