Description

The incumbent in this position provides nursing duties at Central Illinois Kidney and Dialysis. This Registered Nurse will assist the physicians in patient care activities in the clinics and will perform direct patient care requiring nursing principles.


Examples of Duties

The following information is intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbent in this position and is not all-inclusive.   • Chart prep
  • Assist with the receptionist phone calls when available
  • Assist with patients at the check in desk, when available
  • Contact patients prior to appointments to complete orders
  • Order follow-up testing
  • Initiate dialysis starts and follow ups with DaVita/FMC admissions
  • Patient education
  • Referrals to specialists
  • Refills and new prescriptions for medications
  • Prior authorizations for medications and testing
  • Assist with rooming when needed
  • Follow up with MD on no-shows
  • Arrange admission to hospitals
  • Fax lab order forms
  • Sort through mail
  • Triage mail and Halo doctors for orders
  • Triage phone calls from patients, physicians, dialysis units and hospitals
  • Assist with walk in patients
  • Assist with pre-appointment calls when short staffed
  • 2827 forms, Prior authorizations and other issues that arise from the daily mail
  • Assist with outreach clinic follow ups
  • Overdue orders
  • Work on order boards/calendar follow up
  • Check and complete physician orders that come from task list
  • Update and track any EPO labs and orders
  • Recording/tracking samples

Qualifications

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in IL.

Condition of Employment: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
