Position Title: Banquets Captain

Business Unit: Banquets

Position Reports to: Banquets Manager

Positions that report to this role: Catering support/frontline staff

Location: Crystal Mountain, Washington

Wage Range: 23.00-25.00 + tips

JOB SUMMARY

  • The banquet captain is responsible for supervising the staff, operations, and guests of banquet experiences. Their duties include planning dining events, managing the food and beverage service, and tending to guests' requests and complaints. They may also be required to train staff.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide guidance, structure, and participate in setting-up events including but not limited to cleaning and setting dishware, glassware, silverware, linens, upright pipes, crossbar pipes, drapes, napkins (folded), audio, lighting, any other request approved and outlined within the banquet event order (BEO).
  • Provide guidance, structure, and participate in serving food and beverages including alcohol within the standards set at Crystal Mountain and the laws of the Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board and Washington State Health Department.
  • Provide guidance, structure, and participation in stocking supplies & preparing backups as appropriate.
  • Work with to ensure that all pre-function side work is preformed to the Crystal Mountain standard and that all equipment is not only accounted for but in good working condition.
  • Hold a high level of responsibility for keys.
  • Base knowledge of operating systems including booking system and point of sale and should then train and expect a level of knowledge in the point of sale and how to read a BEO from staff.
  • Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service to all guests by anticipating the needs of our guests.
  • Determine when a guest should not be served additional alcoholic beverages in accordance with Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Control board.
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of Crystal Mountain's standard.
  • Provide guidance, structure, and participation in cleaning up after event including but not limited to breaking down tables, stacking and moving chairs, having linens laundered, sweeping, and mopping floors.
  • Attend all staff meetings as required by senior management.
  • Protects the organization, the members, and the guests by adhering to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage and alcohol beverage control policies; including but not limited to Washington State Health and Liquor Department regulations.
  • Develop and maintain an organizational culture, values and reputation with staff, and customers. Ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.
  • Act as a representative of Crystal Mountain with guests & community members.
  • Abide by all Crystal Mountain employment guidelines.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of banquet supplies, including linens, utensils, and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold a valid M.A.S.T. Class 12 or 13 Permit (Washington state serving license)
  • Must hold a valid Washington Food Worker Card (Health & Food Safety)
  • Minimum 4 years professional experience in Food and Beverage, preferably catering


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays while in operation.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Able to manipulate a full-size keg of beer (~160 pounds)
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices, and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
