Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

1. Daily responsibilities:
a. Support application team in completing polymer MOB work requests
i. Accurately prepare raw materials for paint batch making
ii. Follow existing procedures to make paint
iii. Follow instructions to test paint samples and prepared panels per ITM
iv. Recording results and learning basic knowledge of equipment/computing tools to capture and record data

2. As needed basis:
a. Participate in group cleanup of common work areas - typically weekly
b. Coordinate efforts to address safety and housekeeping concerns in the lab, including working with facilities personnel and the safety manager to quickly resolve audit findings
c. Perform instrument calibration as assigned, recording results, and interacting with building calibration team(s)
d. Removal of latex and solvent borne waste from the labs in the pre-determined waste removal procedure.
e. Coordinate LabPack disposal of hazardous materials from the polymer group
f. Organization of raw material storage areas

Level specific roles and expectations:
Responsible for the following under minimal supervision (unless otherwise noted):

1. Safety and Quality Standards
* Complies with all safety and housekeeping policies and guidelines
* Adheres to all applicable ISO guidelines, quality standards, and internal test methods/procedures and maintains all required certifications.
* Documents all lab work per established guidelines for the department (such as electronic lab notebook or project files)

2. Technical/Professional Knowledge
* Utilizes scientific approaches to design and execute their own experiments as required
* Develops new products/methods/processes or modifies existing products/methods/processes in response to specific business needs
* Conducts analysis of technical problems, draws conclusions and implements existing procedures to solve the problem or provides sound rationale for recommendations where precedent may not exist.
* Compiles, validates and analyzes data to draw conclusions and make recommendations with minimal input
* Proficient in operating complex equipment or utilizing a variety of instruments/methods
* Proficient in using software to input and analyze data and communicate results
* Ensures continued technical and professional development through participation in on-the-job training, in-house training, and/or external courses/seminars/classes.
* Has company/industry knowledge in a specific area of expertise or has broad company/industry knowledge

3. Project Management
* Independently performs basic and more complex tasks with progress and results infrequently checked
* Independently establishes own timeline/schedule for assignments based on priorities and completes assigned work within defined timelines
* Mentors or trains new hires/lower level employees when needed.
* May lead projects with limited supervision or provide significant support to larger projects or project teams. Actively contributes suggestions based on experience and/or results.
* May assign work, monitor and report on activities conducted by lower level technicians.

4. Communication
* Maintains awareness of customer needs and may provide technical customer support to immediate department/internal
* Communicates with members of own department
* Provides project updates to key stakeholders and/or supervisor (took out may)
* Writes reports, outlining processes/procedures and results with proper analyses and recommendations for path(s) forward (where appropriate) for distribution within and potentially outside the department

BASIC QUALIFICATION:
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).

FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
* High School diploma

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
* 1 year of experience in a lab setting
* Basic computer skills.

Preferred:
* Paint formulation experience
* Ability to work independently
* Hazardous Material Handling

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
* Communication and interpersonal skills
* Organization and planning skills

Preferred:
* Basic Knowledge of polymer synthesis techniques
* College level course work in chemistry and organic chemistry

Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based at Breen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.
