As an Engine Test Director, you will manage, plan and direct the overall department activity to conform to established goals and objectives of the business. Achieve objectives by developing and maintaining a competent work force engaged in production, planning, material control, facility maintenance, test cell software control and equipment maintenance. Ensures all work meets quality standards and is accomplished in accordance with appropriate airworthiness and regulatory requirements. Manages and coordinates a broad range of Turboprop, Turbojet and Turbofan engine test activities in support of a vast MRO enterprise network. Manages budgets and improvements as agreed with VP/GM and enterprise leadership teams. Initiates and supports Continuous Improvement programs.

What you'll do:



  • Directs the production, planning, engineering, software control and facility maintenance of a test cell complex.
  • Plans day-to-day operations, assigns manpower, authorizes overtime and controls costs.
  • Monitors production yields on a daily basis; makes adjustments as necessary to maintain delivery schedules.
  • Develop departmental Service Level Agreement (SLA) that supports the needs of the Business Units on-site.
  • Develops CAPEX requirements, plans, and schedules and manages the departmental equipment and facility infrastructure improvements.
  • Coordinates and liaises with production, quality, supply chain, sales, engineering and customer service to ensure production standards and goals are achieved.
  • Controls cost by establishing production standards and implementing methods for improvements.
  • Formulates, recommends and implements policies and programs to guide the corporation in maintaining and improving the competitive position and profitability of the operation.
  • Performs capacity planning for equipment, floor space and manpower requirements in accordance with forecasted workload.
  • Builds and develops team approaches to problem solving. Establishes and drives a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the work center, including the selecting of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the work center.
  • Actively participates in the business unit management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
  • Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • May perform work center production, preventative maintenance, and all other aspects associated with the operation of the work center.
  • Insures all technical and non-technical qualifications, training and certifications are maintained for the assigned personnel on a routine and timely basis.
  • Ensures all equipment and facilities are maintained for the assigned work center in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring all key performance indicators are met and maintained for the assigned personnel and work center.
  • Develops and provides senior management with necessary reports to manage and measure the health of the business.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.


What you will need:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related discipline (CIM, CPIM, APICS); or equivalent.
  • Several years in an organizational leadership role with delivered and sustainable results.
  • Supervisory experience in an engine MRO test cell environment and experience as a test cell operator or engineer.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with Technicians, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Safety, Security and Environmental.
  • Solid understanding of safety and security requirement in and around the test facility.
  • Solid understanding of test cell facilities, equipment, hardware and software
  • Solid understanding of the environmental issues related to engine facilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.
  • FAA A&P license preferred
  • Specific MRO and/or Engine Test product knowledge on the following engines is preferred: CFM56-7B, Rolls-Royce Tay/Spey, Pratt and Whitney PW300/500,/PT6A and Honeywell TFE731.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
