Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Inventory Control Specialist acts as a liaison between the Purchasing Department and the branch locations. This position is responsible for inventory control tasks in accordance with company business practices and in the professional manner required to build market share and maintain repeat business with our valued customers.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Upholds and follows the inventory control procedures set forth by the company and trains individuals at the branch locations on those procedures.
- Review dead stock and turns reports for all branches. Task includes:
Identifying dead stock and contacting appropriate vendor for return or offsetting order if
applicable. Analyzing turns report to ensure adequate stock levels in all branches, reviewing re-order points and notifying supervisor of any discrepancies and/or deficiencies. Arranges for the transfer of slow selling or obsolete merchandise from one branch warehouse to another. Makes all inventory adjustments.
- Coordinates the physical inventory and cycle counts with shipping and receiving clerks and store managers. Train warehouse personnel on proper procedures for receiving; including calling for freight, and how to handle over/short/damage.
- Train and coordinate with purchasing point person at each branch location on vendor claims, receive reject, negative receivers, transfers, stock for promos, and other functions they may need to perfor
- Travels to each location for training purposes, to assist with cycle counting, to verify inventory discrepancies, and to determine dead stock
- Assist with communication between branch locations and accounting regarding purchasing issues.
- Participate in personal development including activities as directed by management which can include:
Attending department and company meetings
Attending computer software seminars
Attending vendor and other training courses as approved by management; use
self-instructional materials available
Read trade, vendor and other product or services materials
Keep informed about company plans, marketing and sales goals, promotions and
related materials, policies, and procedures

- Perform special projects, participate on project teams, and other tasks as assigned by management
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to travel to all branch locations as needed
